Golden Isle Travels https://www.goldenislesrilanka.com Truely Unique MICE Corporate and Incentive Tours Sri Lanka Tue, 03 Sep 2019 05:21:56 +0000 en-GB hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=5.3.15 Why choose a DMC (destination Management Company) to handle your vacation? https://www.goldenislesrilanka.com/why-choose-a-dmc-designation-management-company-to-handle-your-vacation/ Tue, 03 Sep 2019 05:21:56 +0000 https://www.goldenislesrilanka.com/?p=1128 In the fast-paced internet age where booking your own hotels and activities looks like a great idea, the DMC’s role still holds important in getting to know the destination.

Golden Isle understands the needs of the well-read traveler, and their demands and expectations, unlike in the past a destination expert needs to be able to offer more value for money.

Here are a few points why we believe we stand out from the rest.

  • Over 40 years of destination and industry knowledge with paddy as a pioneer in tourism.

  • Close partnerships with stake holders to diverse activities and experiences around the Island.

  • On time and 24 / 7 accessibility to your travel planner directly.

Golden Isle as a policy use selected and inspected hotels and accommodation, so we are well connected to the management at the properties. Our Guides and chauffeurs understand that the promise to deliver on the program created, is key to a guest enjoying Sri Lanka. Their safety, and offering a service that Is personalized as well as un intrusive and yet making sure they are given opportunities that may enhance their vacation is encouraged by us.

A professional Destination management company has to be flexible, creative and resourceful while having the ability to constantly create out of the box experiences and programs. Tailor made, bespoke and curated programs are not offered by all destination experts, as this takes product knowledge and a vast investment of time and resources.  We at Golden Isle Understand this, and each day we look at Sri Lanka with new and fresh eyes, our team constantly is on the lookout for new adventures and incorporate these when and where ever possible as new offerings.

As with any industry and business there are new entrants and a DMC reputation is made or broken by the ability to deliver. So, when you are looking at your vacation make sure you do your homework and partner a DMC with a proven track record at being a specialist in the destination they manage.

Roads less travelled https://www.goldenislesrilanka.com/roads-less-travelled/ Tue, 04 Jun 2019 05:49:52 +0000 https://www.goldenislesrilanka.com/?p=1053 We took the early morning train from the Fort railway station to our final destination of Jaffna town. The journey itself was smooth with winding tracks taking you through the central part of the country and scared city of Anuradhapura. The 6-hour train ride is quite comfortable. Getting into Jaffna town was a surprise as the town was a buzz with many tourist busses and it really looked like everyone was taking in the sites.

In my two days of travelling around I visited a few important and unusual sites that are steeped in history.

Point Pedro

The northern most tip of the Island nation comes to a sudden end at this corral strewn beach, ahead is the vast Indian ocean starched on for miles with nothing to break the horizon. There is something about the ground you stand on when you realize if you take one step into the sea you have stepped out of Sri Lanka.

Kandarodei Temple

The grounds of the temple are surrounded by 60 domes said to be the resting place of monks who were poisoned and murdered. Even though the story is macabre this is also said to be holy ground where the Buddha visited on his second journey to Sri Lanka.

Naguleshwaram temple

If you are in search of some tomb raider vibes you will find it right here, the old temple sits right next to the current colorful structure, but let’s not miss out on the beautiful tree grown ruins of the old. Where many of the kovils do not permit photographs inside you will be able to capture some beautiful Insta worthy clicks here. Don’t forget to check out the peacocks in the premises and the largest bull in the country that is said to be treated as the sacred mascot.

Keerimalair springs

Folklore says women who are unable to get pregnant come bath in the springs as it has healing properties. What I liked most was the amazing azure waters of the pond, the Indian ocean right next to it is also a perfect place to take a dip. Just make sure you take loads of sunblock and wide brimmed hats to keep off the blazing sun.

Dambakolpatuna

The grounds are hallowed by Buddhist in Sri Lanka as history says Sangamitha Raniya brought the sacred Bo sapling from the shores of Dambakolapatuna beach. The beach itself is quite beautiful with white sand and bluest of seas.

taking in all this history is quite tiring, one needs to take a break and no better way than to stepping in for some ice cream at Rio ice cream parlor in the heart of Jaffna town.  People say it’s the water, but I say forget counting calories and just indulge in some of the sweetest and creamiest ice cream you will eat in Sri Lanka.

Visiting Sri Lanka is always a good idea https://www.goldenislesrilanka.com/visiting-sri-lanka-is-always-a-good-idea/ Tue, 04 Jun 2019 05:35:19 +0000 https://www.goldenislesrilanka.com/?p=1044 Thinking of a vacation that covers it all, why not think the Island paradise Sri Lanka. The tiny mango-shaped island in the Indian ocean is jam-packed with adventure, culture and all-round good fun. Even if you are travelling solo, with family or friends, the people and their culture embraces you.

As an Asian nation, Sri Lankans too are quite friendly and open, the diverse cultural backgrounds with the influences of their colonizers.

From verdant hills, to cascading waterfalls, world famous high and low grown tea, blue sapphire gems, best Cinnamon the list is endless. The pineapples taste the sweetest and eating it with some salt sprinkled with chilly is heavenly.

We like our food on the spicy side, the street food legend Kottu, made with its own clanging beat or some hot buttered cuttlefish with onion rings to be washed down with a good old lion beer.

Transport is relatively cheap and safe if you are looking to be adventurous or you could let an expert like Golden Isle travels  tailor make your tour and handle all your transport. Let us give you points to places off the beaten tracks, that will still give you the truly unique flavor of Sri Lanka.

Mix your thrills with some soul food, take a break and relax in some of the most tranquil Ayurveda retreats on the beach or in the jungles.

Here are a few points why we say make Sri Lanka a worthwhile travel option.

  1. Ella by train for that insta post
  2. Pidurangala mountain trek cos the climb is worthy.
  3. Zip lining in Ella mountain range to tick off the adrenalin rush.
  4. Flood plains national park to meet the Elephants without the crowds.
  5. City Walks in Galle Fort, where everything is just mesmerizing.
  6. Ride the waves in Mirrissa, as its just something you should try.
  7. Boat ride with the blue whales and Dolphins for the awesome experience it gives.
  8. Tea plucking at Liptons seat cos war cuppa it offers.
  9. Take a dip in bakers’ field water fall to bring out the dare devil in you.
